Dr. Siwei Wang was born and raised inChengdu,Sichuan,China. She studied both Western and Traditional Chinese medicine at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Upon graduation, she received the equivalent of a MD degree of Oriental Medicine in 1983 and took a job of assistant professor for teaching in medical school and also began the practice of acupuncture, herbal medicine, and western medicine in the Department of Gynecology, Surgery, Internal Medicine in an affiliated hospital of medical school inChengdu.
Dr. Wang moved to North Carolinain 1990 to take a position as researcher in Wake Forest University School of Medicine. A few years later, she obtained her Diplomate of Acupuncture through the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine., at the same time she became a licensed practitioner for acupuncture and Oriental Medicine inNorth Carolina.
Acupuncture has been in common use throughout the East for over 3000 years, and is used as a primary health care system around the world. As an Oriental Medical practitioner, Dr. Wang has the training, knowledge and experience in all modalities of this medicine, including acupuncture, herbal therapy, diet, nutrition, and massage. She provides integrative treatment for patients with chronic pain and a wide range of illness problems, such as fibromyalgia, arthritis, migraines, allergies, asthma, common cold, flu, digestive disturbances, chronic fatigue, stroke, hypertension, depression and women’s problem like menstrual disorder, menopause syndrome, infertility. She also provides supportive care for chemotherapy and radiation therapy and has facilitated rehabilitation and recovery from surgery, stroke and accidents. Dr. Wang stresses wellness, using acupuncture as a preventive medicine to strengthen the body, mind, spirit in order to avoid illness.
